Cobras-2 took on the Birmingham Black Cats-2 on Sunday 18/1/09 at the Cobras home venue of Leicester Leys. The Cobras were looking for revenge after losing a very close match (by just 1 point) to the Black Cats-2 back in December.

The Cobras put a disappointing result in their last match (against the Warwickshire Bears-3) behind them and went into full attack mode against the Black Cats.

In an extremely close match the Black Cats never once let the Cobras gain much of an advantage. For most of the match the two teams were only separated by a few points at most.

The Cobras just hanging onto a 4 point advantage over the Black Cats in a very tough but very enjoyable game of basketball. Top scorer for the Cobras was once again Moh Abdullahi with 16 points, he is getting to make a habit of this. Good showings also from Dipen Sharma with an impressive 10 points (he has only been playing just over a year) and Sean Bramely, who scored three baskets in very quick succession to take his total to 6 points. This also marked the last match for some time for David Forryan who gave everything in the match even though he was setting off early the next morning for a very long trip to Asia. He will really be missed.

Cobras-1 travel up to Scotland for their next match against Lothian on Sunday 1/2/09. The Cobras-1 team have been having some injury problems of late so we are not yet sure what form the team will take.

The next Leicester Cobras home match is a double header on Sunday 15/2/09 when Cobras-2 take on the Derby Wheelblazers (tip-off at 1.30 pm). Then Cobras-1 take on the very tough (and so far unbeaten) Oldham Owls-2 (tip-off at 3.15 pm). The venue is as usual the Cobras home of Leicester Leys Leisure Centre, Beaumont Leys, Leicester. It is free to come and watch are matches.
